Service & Maintenance
The Service Department is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure of the City. They work to keep the 41 lane miles of streets and storm sewers in good repair; which includes snow plowing and salting during our long northeast Ohio winters. They also work to fix the potholes that inevitably will appear. The City works in conjunction with the First Energy to maintain street lights in good working order.
Responsibilities are varied and include traffic lights, maintenance of all City vehicles and equipment, ditches or waterways, signage and maintaining City-owned buildings.
Maintenance of our local parks includes playground equipment and mowing. Maintenance and operations of both the Rittman Municipal Cemetery and Pioneer Cemetery are also the responsibility of the Service Department. During the Summer months, the Service Department sprays for mosquitoes in an attempt to facilitate safe and comfortable outdoor living.
Seasonally, leaf and brush collection are done by this department.
The department consists of 1 director, 1 supervisor, and 8 service technicians.
