The emergency water main break that affected residents on Greenbriar Ave, Diagonal St, West Hill Ave, and Elliott St will require a BOIL ALERT once services are repaired.
Doors will be tagged with a green tag once the water sample has been approved and cleared by the EPA.

This year, in accordance with the City Charter, our City conducted a Charter Review. Over the course of several weeks, the committee met to review and develop proposed amendments, which were then presented to City Council. City Council approved the amendments for placement on the November ballot.
We have included a link the Wayne County Board of Elections Sample Ballot for your review. Please note, Rittman residents in Medina County may see a slightly different ballot format, but the Charter Amendments will be the same.
We encourage you to read through the amendments in their entirety before going to the polls to vote.

The City of Rittman Utilities Department will be doing annual hydrant flushing throughout the city

Flushing hydrants is an important preventive maintenance activity that verifies proper operation of the hydrant and ensures adequate water flow will be available if the need for firefighting arises. Flushing also removes sediment that naturally accumulates in water pipes. Removing these materials through flushing maintains the high quality of the water we provide to you.
When hydrant flushing occurs in our community, you may notice slightly yellow, orange, or brown-colored water coming from your faucet. If this happens, simply run your cold water tap for three to five minutes. If the water is still discolored, wait about 30 minutes and run the water again. This temporary discoloration only affects the appearance of the water – it does NOT cause a health or safety risk

Resurfacing of South Hickin Ave, between Rittman Ave and Sterling Ave, has started. Melway Paving is the construction company who has been contracted by the city to complete the work. This project is made possible through a grant by the Ohio Public Works Commission.

The Rittman schools are collecting donations to support our local veterans. All proceeds will be used to purchase gift cards for veterans in need for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. The South Main St water line project is set to start Monday, September 14th; with equipment and supplies being delivered to the job site beginning Thursday, September 10, 2026
Please keep the following in mind:
-The project is to last approximately 90 days
